The Music Society is excited to have the Edinburgh Quartet to open the season. Regular visitors in the early days of the Society, they last played here in 1991. Leader Tristan Gurney and viola player Fiona Winning both live locally.

Kinsky Trio Prague, one of the finest chamber ensembles of the Czech Republic, Lucie and Martin Sedlak with pianist Slavka Vernerova Pechokova bring the fire and passion of their playing to the music of Rimsky Korsakov and Arensky.
These Russian Trios may be unfamiliar but they are full of rich melody and exciting to hear.

James Gilchrist enjoys international fame for his performances in opera. Jessie Ann Richardson is the cellist with the Piatti Quartet. They played for the Society in 2010 and this year came second in the prestigious London Quartet Competition. She still finds time to give solo recitals under the Countess of Munster scheme.

Endymion Horn Trio

Horn player Stephen Stirling joins violinist Krysia Osostowicz and pianist Michael Dussek to play the Brahms horn trio.
Widely regarded as Britain’s finest horn player Stephen will also play Schumann’s Adagio and Allegro. Although more often performed by cello and piano, Schumann originally intended the work for horn. The programme concludes with Beethoven’s C minor violin sonata.
